Glenrothes Sports Centre - Fife, Scotland

cre8architecture in conjunction with B3 architects have been appointed by Fife Council to deliver a new Regional Sports facility in Glenrothes. The building seeks to respond to the landscaped setting of the lower level of the site whilst offering dramatic glimpse views of the new facility from all the key approaches. The concept is to create a dramatic front door to the building which creates views into the entrance foyer and beyond to the landscape, connecting inside and out. The foyer and café are positioned such that all functions are connected and visible with views down into the pool and up to the fitness suite. The fitness suite is orientated to capture landscape views and create active frontage to Viewfield Road. The building expresses simple forms in a dynamic manner that excites the user upon approach and acts as a catalyst to energise the surrounding area. Works are due to commence on site summer 2010.
